Spay and Neuter for cats and dogs:
Spaying and neutering pets is beneficial both to the individual pets themselves, and to the greater community. The most important reason we advocate for spay and neuter surgeries is that they prevent unwanted litters, which contribute to the rapid growth of stray animal populations. Stray dogs and cats often live in terrible conditions, but they can also be a health and safety hazard for other animals and people. At Burnet Road Animal Hospital, we’re happy to educate pet owners about the need for spaying and neutering, and the many ways they benefit our animal companions.
Performing Dog and Cat Surgeries:
Burnet Road Animal Hospital has a fully equipped surgical suite that allows our veterinary team to perform a wide range of cat and dog surgeries. Your pet’s safety is always our highest priority, which is why we take precautions before, during, and after the procedure to keep them healthy, stable, and comfortable. These include:
A pre-anesthetic exam and blood work
Full equipment and technician monitoring of vital signs, including oxygen levels and heart rate
Administering anesthesia based on your pet’s age, weight, and health history
Post-op monitoring
Providing your pet with the appropriate pain management (including take-home medication)
We’re dedicated to making every surgery a stress-free experience for our clients and patients. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Is My Pet Going to be in Pain After Their Surgery?
Along with keeping your pet safe during surgery, we also want to make sure they feel as little pain as possible afterward. We administer pain relief medication prior to their surgery, during as needed, and we can provide you with oral medication to take home. Some discomfort should be expected, but it doesn’t have to inhibit your pet’s recovery.
